What are theBoom Buds? theBoom Buds are the latest in a long line of innovative technologies developed by UmeVoice. Although the company’s roots are located in professional-grade headsets for busy, noisy environments, the progression to audio equipment for recreation and personal use was inevitable. The technology for noise Canceling headphones and microphones - developed by UmeVoice engineer and musician Joe Tate - quickly became the world’s top rated noise Canceling headset, was also found to be highly desirable to consumers who love music. Although accessories for the music and personal market have not been a large part of the UmeVoice line of products, UmeVoice began to realize there was a need for high quality, cost-effective earbuds. This was due to the large variety of headphones and earbuds available, but none had the quality and noise reduction technology that theBoom had become famous for. Why theBoom Buds? theBoom buds is a response to the need for technology for both personal and professional equipment use. Earbuds have become the new standard for headphone technology and by utilizing the incredible engineering of professional headsets, UmeVoice created a recreational earbud, not only for the personal and recreational user, but also an earbud that can be used in a professional setting; such as recording studios and live performances as in-ear monitors. theBoom Buds are also sturdy enough for those who enjoy exercise and sports, capable of resisting wear and tear, but still delivering the most amazing sound quality available on the market. Unlike earbuds priced in the hundreds of dollars, theBoom Buds retains its cost-effective use of technology by simple engineering genius. How do theBoom Buds work? The Boom Buds are small earphones, which provide environmental noise reduction by effectively occluding the ear canal. Most earbuds, such as those provided with portable music players, are vented to the outside. While this improves the ballistics of the speaker driver system, these vents allow environmental noise to enter the ear canals and therefore offer no protection against high-level noise. The Boom Buds have a solid high impact plastic housing that presents a significant barrier to noise entering the ear canal as well as a high-ballistic speaker driver system built in to grant amazing sound quality and clarity, while simultaneously causing a drastic reduction in external noise. To measure the amount of noise reduction provided in the ear canal, tests were performed in an anechoic chamber, with background white noise at a high level of 100 dBSPL. The tests concluded that the noise reduction in a simulated eardrum was far and above the usual level of external noise reduction that most earbuds claim. It was also noted that the noise reduction to the external area was drastically lower than most headphones, utilizing the seal and high-impact casing to prevent the music from escaping the eardrum and disturbing the background noise around the user, making theBoom Buds perfect for studies in quiet areas, such as libraries and study rooms, or in professional situations like recording studios and sound booths.
