theBoom noise cancelling headsets for the hearing impaired.

Recommended product for hearing impaired: theBoom Bone Conduction Headset

Recommended product for slight hearing loss: theBoom Quiet

Hearing is one of the five senses of the human body and it is a complex process of tracking sound and making meaning out of it. The human ear responds to sounds that are very faint as well as sounds that are very loud. Unfortunately some people either naturally or unnaturally develop permanent or partial hearing loss.

Normally, the human ear traps sound waves traveling through the air, amplifies them and then turns them into signals for the brain to interpret into meaning. The bone conduction system takes a shorter route to the brain through the bones, bypassing the outer ear - nature's air conduction system.

Scientists invented bone conduction technology to overcome communication barriers of people with partial hearing loss or hearing impaired. Bone conduction headsets create vibrations in the jawbone and/or temple in order to transmit sound to a listener. More specifically, the sound frequency is transmitted to the inner ear (cochlea) through the bones of the skull.

Benefits of theBoom bone conduction headset

Comfort
The headset is ergonomically positioned around the ear for those that are sensitive to devices in their ears. Consider it an ears free headset, thus providing extended use comfort and safety.

Clarity
Our passive noise canceling microphone cancels noise in the background and enables clear communication. Our bone conduction “speakers” allow sound presentation to those who have middle and outer ear disorders, such as aural atresia and microtia.

Safety
Bone conduction allows the user to hear clearly through vibrations in the jawbone.
For normal sound environments:
- The ears are unobstructed, which allows the user to hear other sounds in the environment.
For noisy environments:
- Its ears-free design allows the use of earplugs for maximum hearing protection.

For the Visually Impaired
The bone conduction headsets are good for visually impaired users who do not feel comfortable having their ears covered. Since the ears are unobstructed, they may continue using their ears as their eyes.

Benefits of theBoom Quiet for people with slight hearing loss

1) Our speakers are amplified with volume control, for those that need the extra boost in sound level to hear effectively.

2) The soft and comfortable ear seals protect the already fragile ears from unwanted noises.

3) Our theBoom technology allows the user to whisper and be heard which alleviates the inverse lombard effect -- people who speak softly because they hear softly.
